OK. The thing is, I now have my book published. Brilliant. Now, how do I let everyone know? As I say cannily in the title, ’selling for everyone’, it could be for everyone. Is it possible to tell everyone? Or if I tell a few people and they like it will they eventually tell everyone?
Hmmm…

Ok. It’s Tuesday. I broke my own rule – I just needed an outlet and I don’t kick dogs, chickens or kids, and I don’t have a cat, so here goes.

Working from home is perfect for me; it’s generally quiet, relaxed, there’s no travel, coffee on tap, spaniel at my feet etc etc..

..and then the kids are off school. Murder, mayhem, noise, demands, pleading, strangers in the house, feeding times, no milk in the fridge, dog no longer at my feet, 4 TV’s on at all times (only 2 kids), no printer ink!!!?, endless questions usually starting and ending with the word WHY. Why can’t I have 7 friends round for lunch? Why do I have to stop beating my sister with my cricket bat? I only set fire to the shed…why are you picking on me?

Here’s the thing. There is absolutely no reason for kids in the UK to be off school for 7 weeks in the summer. What are working people supposed to do? Actually I feel sorry for the people not working too – they have to put up with the kids being around all day long as well.

So, lets shorten the holidays, send the kids to summer camp (our American cousins could teach us a thing or two here) and let them re charge their batteries over a couple of weeks not a couple of months… and we can get on with some work!!!

Ring any bells?

Why on a Friday? Well, there is plenty of material after a full week of existence…an example. I received a call. The person on the other end of the phone was engaged in a conversation (loose term) with someone else. I waited while she had finished. I honestly thought it was my daughter, (who is 12). When she had finished her conversation with a third party, she asked me straight out if I was happy with the service I was receiving from some kind of National network provider. I had never even heard of them?! You can imagine the fun I had with that phone call for the next 10 agonising minutes. cat playing with mouse, chicken playing with frog. you get the picture. The person wished she had never said yes to the job she was obviously offered in error. Sorry. But do you have patience with this kind of rubbish service? You’d think that the kind of money these networks make they could train their people properly or at least employ people older than 12!!!! Had a bad call recently? Let me know.

I have seen many sales people in action and been involved in so much training that it becomes obvious that selling can be incredibly diverse, interesting and occasionally complex.

In my view of the world, and beginning to unfold in my first book, selling -for everyone, I try and show that selling is all about people and how they interact. We have the inherent behaviours and skills required to sell. We just need to recognise it.

More soon from ‘Why I wrote this book’ , Selling-for everyone.
